Up for Auction is a Pinewood Derby Display Shelf Kit that was originally built for a Cub Scout day camp a couple of years ago. The major goal of this kit was to allow a cub scout to satisfy a Woodworking requirement. If the boy is a Wolf then it would satisfy requirement 5E "make something" or Elective 3a "Make it yourself". If the Boy is a Bear then requirement 21B would be satisfied " Build a Display for a model". If a Webelo then this would satisfy one of the two woodworking projects needed for Craftsman activity badge. The secondary goal is to have the boy build something that he would want to keep to show to his children when he grows up. The shelf because it displays all 5 years of Cub Scout Pinewood derby cars could also be a small incentive for the boy to stay in Cub Scout so he can fill the shelf. The shelf is a Kit and will require help from a adult. The shelf is assembled using screws and egg crate construction 1/2 lap joints. The material is 9 ply Russian Birch plywood. All pilot holes are drilled in mating pieces. The pieces will need to be sanded before assembly. The assembly screws are a Philips drive which works much better for boys than standard slotted screws.
