BEAUTIFUL QUEEN CONCH! (Strombus gigas) This is a PINK Queen Conch shell that I found while snorkeling in the Atlantic Ocean in about 6 foot of water. It had been cleaned out by a predator recently and was still in good shape. Even though the conch animal appeared gone, I still cleaned the shell thoroughly in bleach and water. Notice the great color even after sitting in bleach. I also have to use dental tools to pick off the outside calcium buildup. I enjoy the process and seeing the perfection of a shell. However, it is a long task. Okay, to specifics. This Queen Conch weighs about 3 pounds. It is about 9 1/4" long with a face width of about 7 1/4". The inside color is rosy pink inside, fading to pale pink and cream with shades of peach, but what makes this shell unusual is how pink it is on the outside. The spire is almost perfect. A knob is chipped at the end, t is a growth crack, and some worm activity. Otherwise, this is a beautiful shell with only a small amount of the chips and breaks that can come from existing in a ocean environment. Please study the pictures carefully as I have tried to show both the beauty of the shell and its imperfections. This is the shell you will receive. This shell sells for $12.95.
