Well folks, we know a lot of you are BIG fans of Pioneer's Vintage Components. You love the Dials & Meters, and quite a few of you even love the Sound! However, after 1975 (The last year this was produced: 1973-1975), Pioneer got away from using 'discrete' Output Transistors, and went with IC's. So, the Monster Receivers and Amps of which you're all so fond, do NOT have the same Excellent Sound Quality of these earlier Pioneer offerings, and perhaps more importantly, the 'newer' (1976-1983) Models are NOT stable into 4-OHM Speakers!! And THAT's why you see so many of them listed on eBay as 'for parts only' units: They blew when connected to High-End, Low Impedance Speakers! But, we digress............. THIS Conservatively Rated Powerhouse delivers a REAL 40 Watts Per Channel (Or 45, depending on how you read the Manual), and won't even break a sweat with Huge, Power Hungry Floorstanders! And, the Sound is High-End, 'Audiophile' Quality all the way! Unlike later models, this DOES have a Beautiful Mid-Range, NOT just the 'Boom/Sizzle' highs and lows of the later 'monsters'. Connectivity of the 8100 is also a Marvel: 2(!) Phono Inputs, 2-AUX Inputs, 2-MIC Inputs(!), 2-COMPLETE(!) Tape Loops, a Tuner Input, and Pre-Out/Main-In Jacks for Versatility. And the Phono-2 & AUX-2 connections have their own Level Control (Can you say: "High-Output Moving Coil Cartridge"?). The Front Panel contains the Jack for the Marvelous Headphone Amp, the Tone Controls (WITH a Tone-Defeat Switch!), and more. But you'll learn ALL about these features when you own this PERFECTLY Operating 8100, because the ORIGINAL Owner's Manual, Sales Brochure, and Schematic Diagrams are all INCLUDED! As you've probably surmised by now, this was BABIED for its entire life. In fact, though it was in a cabinet with other components in a dedicated 'listening' room, it hasn;t been used since the owner passed on in 1990. It was kept clean, and regularly 'dusted', and thus it was no surprise that it sprang right to life when we plugged it in and turned it on. To say it appears to be a 'Time Capsule' piece would be an understatement. Cosmetically, though you may find a tiny mark or two, we think the photos clearly show this Amp's Outstanding Presentation. And, perhaps, of most importance to many---considering that, packed, this is over 40 Pounds!----is the shipping cost.
