I will be posting some additional auctions on Tuesday evening. These will be 5 day listings which will end on Sunday evening, please take a look Tuesday-Thanks! VeRO members, eBay Trust and Safety and eBay Customer Support Departments see below. This is a very rare pre-WWII German Army Pioneer (Combat Engineer) Saw in excellent plus condition showing no use to the blade and minor wear to the exterior. The steel blade is 16 1/2" long and is very well marked by the maker "EWALD SCHMAHL / GRONENBERG" and also has a very clear waffenampt "WaA146". Overall length without the scabbard is 21 3/4". The grip is blackened steel with walnut panels, one of which is deeply branded "2". The base of the grip has painted yellow and red stripes. I suppose the "2" and the colors were meant to identify which unit the saw belonged to. I know this practice well as it is used in my own Fire Department to identify which Engine or Truck a piece of equipment belongs to. Things get jumbled up on fires and this system allows everyone to get their own equipment back in a timely fashion. As you can see, the scabbard has matching paint. The scabbard is blackened steel and leather and is marked "P. EHRHARDT POESSNECK 1937" and with early style Waffenampt without swastika "WaA150". Obviously, the two components were made by different companies and then put together, this was and is common practice. The paint indicates that these two components were not "assembled" or "associated" by a dealer or collector. As stated above, the condition is awesome! I have not seen one of these before and these are certainly rare. Think about it, how many of these were used up during and, more importantly, after the war? This is a tool that is useful both in a military and civilian capacity; you know these were mostly used up in Germany and elsew in Europe. This one must have been brought back by a GI who figured he could use it in his own tool box and he simply never needed it. You will be happy when you open the box. I also have a couple of other neat Pioneer related items. These include a rare pick/shovel combination, a rare excellent folding shovel with carrier, a large size wire cutter with case and even a DEWAT 5 CM Anti tank round with projectile. See the last photo which shows the items I have right now. I also have many other US, German and Japanese military items and some general antiques listed now on eBay. Please click on "View seller's other items" above to see these other items. Thank you and good luck in your bidding. NOTE to eBay: I do not list any item that violates any of eBay's listing policies. While this listing is for an item produced in Germany during the WWII period, t are no Nazi or otherwise offensive markings on it, nor does it have any connection to a Nazi organization. This lot is fully compliant with eBay's restrictions on WWII German items. Specifically the restriction on: "Items that bear symbols of the Nazis, the SS, or the KKK, including authentic German WWII memorabilia that bear such marks". This item has no swastikas or other Nazi type markings and does not promote hate, violence or racial intolerance (or organizations dedicated to such notions). This item fits into the second category of eBay's: Examples of items that may generally be listed: German coins and postage stamps (canceled or otherwise) from the WWII era regardless of markings. WWII memorabilia that does not bear the Nazi or SS markings. Books and movies about WWII or Nazi Germany, even if the Nazi symbol app...
