Pioneer SX-1050 Stereophonic Receiver Description: Pioneer's SX series is arguably the greatest stereo receiver line ever to come out of the Hi-Fi Golden Era. These receivers were built to the highest standards and capable of the utmost sonic performance, while remaining extremely flexible. They ranged in size and power from the modest SX-400 series to the massive SX-1980.The SX-1050 was produced in 1977 with a production run until 1979 and a selling price of $800.00. Out-powered only by its big brother, the SX-1250, the SX-1050 has unquestionably won its place in history as one of the greatest performing receivers, period.. Its bone-shaking 120 watt per channel rating is actually quite conservative; it is able to drive just about any pair of speakers with power to spare. The construction and design quality of the SX-1050 is also outstanding, leading to its excellent reputation of durability and reliability. All critical circuitry is shielded in heavy-gauge steel, the switches and pots are military-grade, every single knob is a shimmering, prismatic work of art. Matched up with any receiver, including the high-dollar modern day ones, very few approach the outstanding sonic quality of the SX-1050. Its sound is utterly amazing; extreme clarity, great warmth, tremendous power, and unparalleled detail throughout the entire range, regardless of volume level. unlike today’s audio market of mass produced equipment made with the cheapest components by the cheapest laborers to make the biggest profits, The SX-1050 was constructed with the idea of bringing the highest quality receiver to the consumer for the best price without cutting any corners. After your initial audition, you too will see that they definitely succeeded. Features: Efficiently overbuilt power supply with massive power transformer and beer-can-sized filter capacitors 30Hz & 8kHz tone filters for ultra clean low and high ranges Dual bass controls (50Hz and 100Hz) for precision low frequency control Dual treble controls (10kHz and 20kHz) for precision high frequency control Tone defeat switch for the purest, most accurate reproduction of any source material Three separate speaker outputs, any two of which may be used together Numerous Inputs - Phono 1, Phono 2, AUX, Tape 1, Tape 2, Main, Adapter, etc. Signal Strength & Tuning Meters for ultimate reception of AM & FM bands FM De-emphasis 25 µ S, 75 µ S FM Multipath FM Muting ...and much, much more!Condition: Cosmetically, this unit is in amazing condition - I'd say at least a 9.7+ out of a possible 10. There is a miniscule scratch on the top-facing surface of the faceplate (see extreme close-up photo), and a tiny bit of bubbling near the right edge of the black rear grille (gotta look hard!). These trifling imperfections aside, the rest of this unit appears absolutely like brand new. The brushed aluminum front faceplate, knobs and switches sparkle like new; the rear connections are shiny, uncracked, and uncorroded. The walnut case is beautiful, lustrous, and unblemished. The AM rod antenna, broken on so many of these classic Pioneers, is in place and adjusts properly throughout its travel. The original factory preamp to amp jumpers are also present.Functionally, she's a perfect 10. This receiver is completely stock - all original factory electronic components are present, including the original NEC output transistors, so that wonderful Pioneer sound has never been compromised by inexpensive third-party replacement parts. All dial and indicator lamps are functional. All controls work smoothly and are noise-free as do all lever and pushbutton switches. The tuner section is amazingly sensitive, clearly pulling in my stronger local FM stations in stereo without even having an antenna connected! Finally the amp - channels well-balanced, nice and quiet at idle, with no hum or abnormal noise in either channel. This receiver simply performs magnificently all around. If you're lo...
