"Psst! Avast there! It betoo late to alter course, Mateys. And there be plunderin' pirates lurking in ev’ry cove, waiting to board. Set closer together and keep your ruddy hands inboard. That be the best way to repel boarders. And mark well me words, Matey. Dead men, tell no tales." This auction is for a very LARGE framed lenticular photo of the "Wicked Wench" Limited Edition of 500, from the May 20th,2000 Pirates of the Caribbean Event held at Disneyland in Anaheim, CA. It was only available for sale at his event in the Disneyland Park. It framed in its original antique gold, detailed, heavy wooden frame. It measures 23"wide x 19.5" tall and is 2" thick. This item has never been displayed, only stored in a smoke-free environment since I originally purchased it on May 20th, 2000. It is beautiful and very detailed. Due to the nature of the lenticular process, this photo appears to be 3D and moves when you pass by it or simply look at it. From the twinkling stars in the sky, the Pirate Captain on deck, the background, the water, and the ship herself it is glorious and fantastically detailed. It really feels like you are right there inside the Pirates of the Caribbean ride when you look at it! It was very difficult to photograph because of the 3D effect. This item is MINT, there is no damage or wear to any part of it, if anything looks mis-colored or damaged in the photos, please request more via email, I will be happy to send them. This was made before the release of the POC films and has the ORIGINAL Pirate Captain from the ride depicted, before the installation of Captain Barbossa from the film. A true piece of Classic Disneyland History! Following is a description of the portion of the ride / attraction this photo is from..... Cannonballs whistle overhead and explosions throw water into the air — a fierce battle between a marauding pirate galleon and a Caribbean fortress is in full swing. A Pirate Captain leads the assault from the deck of a pirate vessel named the Wicked Wench From the deck of the Wicked Wench the Captain yells: "Strike yer colors, ye bloomin cockroachers. Or by thunder we'll burn the city to the ground. They need persuasion mates. Fire at will! Pound 'em lads! Pound em'!" When a cannon is shot, guests may feel a powerful blast of air coming from the cannon, followed by a large splash and underwater lighting effects to simulate cannon fire. "This is one of the last attractions at Disneyland that Walt Disney himself directly touched with his creative genius. As we can tell, it truly embodies the heart of his Magic Kingdom. " With that said, the Special Event on May 20th, 2000 at Disneyland was held in celebration of the ride. To own one of these gorgeous framed limited edition photos yourself, this is what you had to do...... Tickets for the event were 85.00 and sold one month in advance. Along with Disneyland Park admission and a chance to buy unique collectibles, the special event ticket entitled guests to attend a beverage reception and panel discussion featuring artists and Imagineers who played a role in the creation of "Pirates" or in one of its subsequent design and engineering upgrades and a special surprise filled 11pm ride on the attraction. Guests arrived for registration on that morning as early as 2:00 a.m. Upon check-in guests were handed a package of information and a number. The number indicated when you would be allowed to enter the Opera House to view and purchase merchandise such as this picture. Guests were given primary and secondary shopping lists. Each contained a list of all the items that were available, the cost, the edition size (500 for this piece) and the specific quantity each guest would be able to purchase on that list, for this picture, guests were allowed to purchase only ONE apiece. When you entered the Opera House the lists were stamped with a number and the time. Guests could shop without being concerned the people in line behind them would buy up the merchandise. Guests had from 8:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. to hand in their...
