Spending most of his career with the Pirates, "Big Poison," the speedy, line-drive hitter, captured three National League batting titles and became a member of the exclusive 3,000 hit club. Waner was also named to four All-Star squads (1933-1935 and 1937). He collected 200 or more hits on eight occasions, was the MVP in 1927 and compiled a lifetime batting average of .333. Up for auction is my late father's autographed baseball memorabilia booklet he had obtained from the widow of Paul Waner. She gave him this in the mid 80's, when she lived in Bradenton, FL.
