This item is a: A 19th century mourning brooch with a rare feature. The front pivots from a tintype image of a young man to a wafer of black glass. The pin portion is missing, but could be put back by a competent jeweler. I have liked this as-is. The clever brooch displays her loved one, or keeps it closer to her heart. The image measures 1 1/16 inch in dia. The brooch is 1 7/16 inches. Probably gold filled bezel. This one is rare. See the other rare or scarce images we are selling this week. Condition: Pin missing.
