EXTREMELY RARE Plant 7 Western Stoneware Twelve (12) gallon crock marked Plant 7 in maple leaf logo. Made in Fort Dodge, Iowa in 1906 by Plant 7 of the newly formed Western Stoneware Company. 12 gallon bristol glaze crock is in wonderful condition with very minimal flaws. Two very tiny pits to glaze: one on inside measures 1/8" x 1/4", the other on the back measures 1/8" x 3/8". A few small rust spots that I have not tried to clean, both on back. Very small chip on rim - again on back - 1/4" x 3/4". NO cracks. Markings are clear and legible. Measures 15" in diameter and 18" tall. Heavy at about 45 pounds. Crock can be shipped, but we will gladly arrange local pickup at our store to save winning bidder on shipping this large, heavy item. Very rare 12 gallon crock in great condition!! Items marked plant 7 are so scarce because the Fort Dodge Plant (Plant 7) of Western Stoneware was open about 8 months before it was completely destroyed by fire on December 13, 1906. Fort Dodge Stoneware joined the following 6 midwest potteries to form Western Stoneware on April 18, 1906: Clinton Stoneware Co. (Plant 6), D. Culbertson Stoneware Co (Plant 5), Macomb Pottery Company (Plant 4), Macomb Stoneware Company (Plant 3), Weir Pottery Company (Plant 2), and Monmouth Pottery (Plant 1).
