Platinum Fountain Pen, 14K Nib, Globe Logo is an interesting fountain pen from Platinum. It had the model number PK-1500. It has a full length barrel which will accept a piston ink converter. What sets this pen apart from current Platinum pens is the old globe logo on both the cap and nib.The Platinum Pen Company was originally called Nakaya Seisakusho. The original logo for this company was a globe with founder Shunichi Nakata's initials S and N separated by a star. Later the name of the company was changed to Platinum and for a time they used the new name with the old logo until it was replaced by a simple P mark. The globe mark was later resurrected in a modified form by the Nakaya pen company for their pens.This pen is new old stock, and still has its original price sticker. The clip is the spring type which adjusts to various thicknesses.This pen is basically a long version of the Pocket size pen which was very popular in Japan from the 60's to the 70's. They had short barrels and long caps which made them short when capped for carrying, and full size when the cap was posted for writing. However, some people preferred to use Platinum's extra long ink cartridges (now discontinued) so Platinum made long barrel versions of some of their pocket pens to accomodate these.
