PLAYFUL ZUNI OTTER with FISH FETISH Artist: This fetish has been carved by master carver Justin Red Elk, who is Zuni and Sioux. He is well known for his fetishes and his work has been published in Zuni Fetishes and Carvings on page 29 and in Spirit in the Stone on page 10 and page 90. Materials: Mr. Red Elk used pipestone for the body of the otter and turqouise for its eyes and the fish. Size: 2 1/2 " long and 3/4" tall. This is charming has been signed by the artist. Traditional Background: Zuni tradition maintains that fetishes originated in the "time of beginning" when we humans climbed up from the shadowy netherworld into the sunshine of this one.
