This auction is for one new Xmas ornament in its presentation box.

This limited edition keepsake continued the Plaza Hotel's tradition of signature holiday ornaments. The 2003 piece, the seventh in the series, captures the beauty of the Plaza Hotel on a perfect winter's day with snow falling from the sky. The elegant facade is surrounded by a wreath of greenery, festive colored bulbs and holly all in the spirit of the season.

This ornament has been meticulously hand painted using a unique chinese technique called Ne 'Qwa passed down for generations. Through a small opening the artist uses bent brushes made of single and multi strand hairs to create incredibly detailed painted scenes on the inside of the glass. Originally, this painting style was reserved for Emperors as a sign of their great wealth and importance. Created by master artisans in the ancient tradition, this treasured piece of art is sure to please collectors the world over.

Each piece is created individually, is unique and is signed by the artist. The Ne'Qwa Art seal, which is etched on the glass, certifies that this ornament is an authentic piece of the Ne'Qwa Art. The ornament comes in a beautiful red silk presentation box with a small information pamphlet including a Statement of Authenticity.

Built in 1907 and designated a National Historic Landmark in 1986, The Plaza mirrored the look of a French Chateau with its marble lobbies, guilded ceilings and furnishings imported from the world over.

The hotel stood 19 stories high and offers 805 rooms and 67 suites with 14-foot ceilings, carved marble fireplaces, crystal chandeliers and thick mahogany doors. Kings, presidents, ambassadors, stars of stage, screen and sports, as well as business executives and travelers from all parts of the world gatd and stayed at The Plaza.

Guests dined in its famous restaurants including-- The Oak Room, The Edwardian Room, Oyster Bar, One CPS and conversed over tea in The Palm Court-- enjoyed the luxurious guest rooms and held meetings, and enjoyed many a wedding, gala and other occasion in its exquisite suites, ballrooms and banquet rooms. Unfortunately the Plaza has closed and the tradition no longer continues.
