The leather looks like wood which is fantastic! This is a great little set. The covers are on very firm the leather is in great shape and not dried out at all like you usually find. The gold on the spine and on the top and bottom of the covers (hard to see). Almost no rubbing. The pages are on watermarked paper and all is on tight! This is a sweet little set. Beautiful!!! WOULD MAKE A GREAT GIFT FOR SOMEONE WHO LOVES BEAUTIFUL LITTLE BOOKS!
