POEMS by Samuel ROGERS : ENGRAVED by John TURNER + Thomas STOTHARD 1834 1st RARE This book is a FINE example of beautifully ENGRAVED mid 19th century POETRY Printed for T. Cadell, and E. Moxon 1834 First Edition. POEMS by SAMUEL ROGERS. 195 pages plus a final full page engraving. A collection of poems, including his major work "THE PLEASURE OF MEMORY" the poem which gave Samuel Rogers his literary reputation. The book is illustrated throughout by beautiful vignette and full page ENGRAVINGS from drawings by JOHN TURNER, THOMAS STOTHARD and others. This collection was published after the success of "ITALY". Bound in three quarter green leather over marble boards, gilt top page edges, yellow end papers . Condition : Light rubbing to the spine edges and board corner, the boards are a little scuffed otherwise the binding is in very good condition, the outer page edges are dusty, the inner hinges and binding is firm, Anabella Rothmey gift inscription dated 1837 written on the first free end paper, the good quality pages have varying degrees of light spotting. Overall this LOVELY book is in VERY GOOD condition. Size21x15cm
