1880 Poland Polish Zatozony Order of the White Eagle Solid 14K Gold Enamel MedalUp for auction is an 1880 dated Polish medal of merit of the POLISH AMERICAN CONGRESS based in Chicago, The medal was made by Zatozony and resembles the Order of the White Eagle Solid 14K Gold Enamel Medal! This Rare Polish medal of merit is made of Solid 14K Yellow gold with an attached 14K White Gold eagle . This medal is Polands highest decoration, only solid gold example I've ever seen. The medal is beautiful with red and white enamel this is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. The medal reads on the reverse Zatozony 1880 14K and is hand etched G 43. I believe the maker Zatozony was established in 1880, but this looks to be a late 1800's or early 1900's period medal. A Order of the White Eagle Medal was given out by the President of Poland whoever that may of been at the time and very few were ever given. I am unaware how many of these Medals of Honor were made and given out in Chicago. The medal is 1 3/4" across by 2 1/8" in length including ribbon loop. The medal weighs 24.7 grams.
