Pair of hand made spurs by well known Texas maker Danny Pollard. I had Danny save me this number back in 2001. When it came up I had these spurs built. 1 1/8" band, 2 1/8" shank, 1 5/8" hand cut rowel. One side has big silver button, five silver pieces on shank, silver mountains and silver bucking horse with copper cactus and a gold sun on band. Other side has big silver button, five silver pieces on shank, silver cards with copper suits and a silver corner piece on band. T are a total of 50 seperate mountings on these spurs. All hand cut and hand engraved. As with most of Danny's spurs these can be worn either side out. Dark iron finish. Marked " D.POLLARD MERKEL,TX. 888 " inside the bands . Straps were made by well known , now deceased, Texas maker Buddy Foster. Lace thru style, scalloped edge with nickle spots. Heavy oiled. Marked " BUDDY FOSTER MAKER DECATUR,TEXAS in an oval. They have Danny Pollard hand made oval buckles 1 7/8" by 1 5/8" with a 3/4" opening. Mounted with two silver cactus and two silver hats on each buckle. Dark iron finish. Marked " D.POLLARD " on the backs. The fantastic 2" domed iron conchos have a silver bronc rider and the iron is engraved around him. Marked " D.POLLARD " on the backs. I loaned them back to Danny in late 2001 to be photographed by Ned Martin for use in the book " Bits & Spurs Techniques, Motifs and Modern Makers ". They are pictured in the book on the lower left of page 221 in full color. This is the actual pair of spurs pictured in the book. . After Ned Martin returned the spurs to Pollard but before he shipped them back to me the local newspaper in Merkel did a front page article on Danny. One of these actual spurs is pictured in that article. I will include that newspaper with the spurs. I have owned these spurs since new and intended to keep them but now have decided to let someone else own them.
