Item: Popeye - Sam’s Movie Projector and Duratone Talkie System The Film is Dated 1935 – Very Scarce Mfg. Uncle Sam’s Projector Uncle Sam’s Register Bank Co. 200 Fifth Avenue , New York , NY Pat. Nos. 1,963,454 – 1,963455 Date: 1935? Description: This is an antique movie projector system with audio – Projector and Duratone Talkie System . The projector is designed to play the six Duratone / King Features Films PLEASE SEE COMPLETE FILM DESCRIPTIONS BELOW . It uses a standard 40 watt bulb. You place one of the three records on the turntable which lies on a wheel which lies on a crank. The projector does not have a focus dial so you must place it at the appropriate distance from the viewing surface. The three records, which contain two stories each (one per side), are a very heavy vinyl. They apparently play at a 78 RPM speed. In working the device, you have to crank the wheel on the side at a consistent speed and as you do both the film advances and the audio plays. I tried it out and it does work; however, it probably works no less than the technology back then allowed – in short, it is certainly not impressive. But as a Popeye collectible, it is clearly unique . Condition: Overall it is in excellent condition (please see photos). Measurement: The projector measures 10.5 inches in length x 4.5 inches wide x 9.5 inches high read more
