RARE Porcelain HAMILTON BEACH Malted Milk Dispenser Vintage 1920s-1930s On front strip: Patent Nov. 7, 1917, Patent Aug. 16, 1927, No. 20D, Serial no. 8066 This is a scarce and beautiful soda-fountain artifact. An authentic vintage treasure standing 18 ½" high in Hamilton Beach's famous soda-fountain green . Feet are 7 ½ x 6 ½. Green, enamel base is 10" high, heavy glass globe is 8 ½", totaling the 18 ½" high. Weight is 17 pounds. Bakelite green lid matches base. As a dispenser for malted milk powder, when the lever is pulled forward, a compartment is moved to an opening that ejects a measured amount. The inside mechanism is very clean. The unit is so mint looking that when I was photographing the item on the outside steps on Charles Street in Manhattan, a neighbor walked up and said, "That certainly is in beautiful condition." Approximately 75 years old, the only minor condition notations are two tiny chips at the very bottom of the green base, hidden in the rear next to the toes, each the size of gnat, and one small crack, about 1 ½' long, on the outer edge of the green Bakelite lid, barely visible. (See photo detail.) This piece can be used as a canister for flour, sugar, cookies, or whatever, by inserting a plastic container, included, as seen in one of the photos.
