This is one of three fabulous PORCELAINE DE PARIS military figurines I obtained from an elegant estate this weekend. One is in mint condition, the other two have minor repairs to their swords. This magnificently dressed gent is named on the front of his fancy gold trimmed base 'LANNES'. On the back of the base are the years 1769-1809. He stands 8.75" tall (including the base) and is in mint condition - sword and handle, featd hat, even the golden birds at the corners of the base show no wear! His history is written in French on the bottom along with the under glaze blue crossed lines. I wondered at first if these figurines were MEISSEN as they have the same quality workmanship, but after researching many blue crossed marks, I decided these marks more resembled the PORCELAINE DE PARIS mark. If I am erronoeus regarding these marks, I would appreciate it if some knowledgeable eBayer would advise me. The majority of my items are vintage pieces obtained from estates.
