READ my Terms of Sale, below. Thank you. In the olden days, certain municipalities required streetcorner newsboys to be licensed and registered. This was because they were little thugs, and the cities and the newspapers (futilely) tried to regulate them. Portland, Oregon, had a particular problem with newsboy hooliganism. The Portland newsboys retaliated to regulation attempts by forming their own protective union, the Portland News Boys Association. This is an early circle-star newsboy badge from that Association. The Badge: One and three-quarters inches diameter, slightly convex, nifty arrows-and-darts at the star points. The original pin assembly is present, but the pin-catch is long absent. The reverse hallmark is "White Stamp & Seal Co. Portland Or." Unlisted by the McCord hallmark guide. McCord however does list a J. & W. White badge works of Portland, years and location unknown. A particularly interesting and early newsboy badge from an obscure manufacturer. NOTE: No early sale, no international sale. PayPal payment due instantly OR within TWENTY-FOUR hours of receipt of my invoice. If not, the purchase is voided, your future bids with me are blocked, you get an eBay negative, and the piece will go elsewhere. Thank you for looking.
