Original antique colour book plate portrait of Her Royal Highness The Duchess of York , wife of The Duke of Cornwall and York (King George V. 1910-1936). The Duchess of York (Princess Mary of Teck was the only child of the Duke and Duchess of Teck) was crowned Queen Mary when her husband ascended the throne in 1910. The portrait is from a photograph by Thomson of London.
Published in Royalties of the World by George Newnes & Co., London , 1901. Published in 12 fortnightly parts (48 beautiful colour plates of the Reigning Monarchs, Princes and Princesses, Dukes and Duchesses in 1901) few collections survive .
The portrait (with detailed biographical notes on the reverse by Rudolf de Cordova) is printed on high quality stock and measures 26 cms x 35 cms ( 10 inches x 14 inches) with wide white margins all round and is in excellent condition.
