In the 1950’s and 60’s he was associated with the avantgarde in New York and a friend of the sitter in this portrait: The American artist Frank Stout (1926-2012). It is a great portrait, elegant in its composition and intensely capturing the personality of the sitter. It is likely painted around 1960, the year Frank Stout had his first major exhibition in New York CONDITION Good condition.
