Description: This rare and beautiful border was created in Portugal during the late Renaissance.The border features a mirrored design with a floral/ fleur-de-lis style motif enclosed withina vignette with decorative scroll work. The ground is black velvet with the design appliqued inmetallic gold yarns. There are also 1" pale orange borders along the sides that have copper metallic yarns.The entire piece is linen backed with linen tabs at the top and bottom.The border measures 9 inches in width by 52 inches in length. This is a lovely piece that would look wonderful framed, and would be idealfor the serious collector of antique textiles. Condition: This is antique fabric. There is some fading and discoloration.There are a couple tears/small holes in the velvet as pictured.Many of the metallic yarns are broken or worn away in places.There are 1" linen tabs at both ends for hanging and the border is backed with linen.Please see photos for reference.All fabrics, wallpapers and paintings are sold "as is".Our items are vintage and some are more than 100 years old.
