VERY RARE POSSIBLY 16th c ITALIAN MAJOLICA ALBARELLO DERUTA ESTATE 8" PHARMACY JAR Size: 8" tall x 5" across at widest point x 4.25" across at spout. The people who owned this piece said it came ( purportedly) from the Cyril Humphris collection at Sotheby's. If it is period the piece is from the 1520-1560's time period. I can NOT guarantee that. The buyer must be the judge of age based on these photos. Bid only if you are comfortable in doing so. You are also welcome to view in person. The piece appears to be of substantial age when one examines the tin glaze condition along with the colors. Patina can tell a story that is hard to duplicate in newer pottery. Appropriate wear along the rim and the interior area below the rim. The raised exterior rim shows glaze loss as one would expect. The lower base rime shows glaze loss, chipping and there is a 5" long surface hairline that does not go through. (It may just be through the glaze itself) Along that same base rim there could be an old, yet small repair as the glaze is a different salmon shade not seen in other parts that is slightly raised. Overall, what a piece. Something not typically found on Ebay. Feel free to ask questions and we will try to answer. This piece could be worth $10,000 or more!WE DO SHIP OVERSEAS. MUST BE FULLY INSURED EVEN AS A GIFT! THANKS FOR ALL THE INTEREST read more
