Up for auction is an old 1800's tintype photo of a soldier wearing Sgt. stripes. Another man is standing beside him but does not appear in uniform. The man wearing the Sgt. stripes also has what looks like the emblem of a bugle inside the stripes on his sleeve. I am not sure of the time period of the soldier but I was told that the bugle emblem was used during and shortley after the civil war to represent the infantry. However, I will leave it to the bidder to make his own determination as to the time period. The soldier also looks to be wearing a pair of high top boots. He also appears to be wearing some lettering on his collar tips. I can't quite make it out though. The tintype shows some wear, scratches, etc. The photo is pretty clear. As to the case, it is marked Geniune Union Case Scovill Mf'g Co. The case has some major condition problems such as it has some pieces broken out around the edges, cracks, etc. The hinges also wobble some but are intact. The case closes but does not snap and stay shut. I believe this is a 1/9th plate size. I took several photos so check them for further condition. I have tried to show the damaged areas of the case in the photos. Starting bid of $9.95 with shipping being $6.50 by quick priority mail deivery. This amount also includes delivery confirmation and insurance equal to the winning bid. Paypal read more
