Up for auction is a vintage (post WWII ?) tie or fraternity pin for the Pershing Rifles. Here is some information I found on the Web: The Pershing Rifles is a military fraternal organization for college-level students founded in 1894 as a drill unit at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. It is the oldest continuously operating US college organization dedicated to military drill. Originally named Varsity Rifles, members renamed the organization in honor of their mentor and patron, Lieutenant (later General of the Armies or The United States) John J. Pershing, upon his departure from the university in 1895. Pershing Rifles became a National organization in 1928 expanding to include several other universities, with companies consisting of drill teams as well as tactical units. Together, these units form what is known as the National Society of Pershing Rifles. This pin was made by Balfour and is done in 10K yellow gold. It weighs 3.92 grams. The main portion is 1/2 inch tall and 1/2 inch wide. The smaller piece attached with chain measures 3/8 inch tall and 5/16 inch wide. Any green you see in the images were reflections from my shirt. Possible a scarce item. What you see is what you'll get. NO RESERVE. Be sure to see all images before bidding. Feel free to ask questions. Thanks.......Mike. .
