Postcard of Sailing Ship“Golden Gate” ex “Lord Shaftesbury”, a 4 Masted Steel Ship built in 1888 byWhitehaven Shipping Co, Whitehaven for J Herron & Co, Liverpool. In 1900 she was sold to A P Rolph, Liverpool and was renamed “Golden Gate”. She was sold in 1914 to J Rolph, San Francisco. She was sold in 1919 to Rolph Navigation & Coal Co, San Francisco. In 1934 she was broken up in Alameda, CA after the death of her owner. This Photo Postcard is in good condition, has not been used postally.
