-Hubble Ultra Deep Field- Quite a view in this FULL SIZE Poster Print of the farthest look into the distant extremes of the known universeever taken, extending some 14.5 billion light years into the remote reaches of visible universal existence. Though the field is a very small speck of the outer reach, it's considered representative of the typical distribution of galaxies in space, because the universe, statistically, looks largely the same in all directions. Gazing into this small field, Hubble uncovered a bewildering assortment of at least 1,500 galaxies at various stages of evolution. Regarding the laws that govern the known universe it's interesting to consider that since the light from these distant objects is some 14.5 billion years old, 1) none of them currently even remotely exist in the condition we are 'seeing' them in, 2) none of them are currently anywhere near [this place] where the Hubble telescope pointed it's optics to 'see them', and 3) many of them no longer exist at all. This is Hubble Ultra Deep Field (HUDF); the Hubble Space Telescope's NICMOS and new ACS cameras took this image staring nearly 3 months at the same spot, resulting in an image capture 4 times more sensitive, in some colors, then the original Hubble Deep Field (HDF). This view is essentially a visual time machine: we're looking back in time 14 read more
