For your consideration, POW MIA bracelet issued 5 12 68. Captain Warren Orr JR. Born 3 20 43. 03/Us Army Special Forces, A- 105 5th Special Forces Group. Info obtained is readily available on google search. Very interesting history indeed. Briefly... While boarding the C 130 aircraft , it was reported that ground fire was heavy. (Some of the crew- Major Bernard Bucher, the pilot, flight engineer, Majoy John Mc Elroy and Captain Warren Orr JR, many civilians ) Orr was a Special Forces Civilian Affairs Officer, whose duty it was to assist getting as many civilians out of Kuan Duc as possible. . The plane took off and 1 mile later received ground fire. Accounts recall the aircraft exploded in mid air, crashed in a fireball one mile from camp. All crew and passengers were believed to be dead. The plane burned completely except for the tail boom. 1st effort to rescue was immpossible because of enemy activity, years later in 1970 they had coordinates of the wreckage in Khan Duc, but could not locate because of double and triple canopy growth. Orr was not positivly identified as actually getting on the aircraft, until a Vietnamese man identified a photograph of Orr as a passenger.
