RARE BEAUTIFUL ART NOUVEAU PAIR OF COMPANION LAMPS BY THE FAMOUS ROYAL DUX- CA.1900!!! DESCRIPTION: Being offered for sale is these rare, exceptional and outstanding pair of companion Art Nouveau lamps by Royal Dux. These lamps are incredibly beautiful as you can see in the many photos. They are tall too. The one with the Art Nouveau woman seating is 31 ¼" tall from the base to the tip of the finale while the other is a little taller at 31 ½". The difference in height is normal as I had and sold identical pair of vase with the same shape, design and by the famous Royal Dux Company and one of those was a little taller than the other. These lamps were likely vases at one time too. But I don't know if the Royal Dux Company turned them into lamps or someone else did. I lean toward the factory doing it as I checked one of the lamps and found the wiring hole in the base to be nice and round with no chips or cracks. The pink triangle mark for Royal Dux was also found. Another factor is the base being made of wood that was hand painted in the exactly the same colors as the body of the lamps. So if this wasn't done by the factory it was done by a professional and done a long time ago too. Not that it matters, they are beautiful and rare lamps now! I believe the lamp shades are vintage because of their overall weight is nearly 3 pounds each and they have an old type frame. I estimate they date ca 30s. They work perfectly and beautifully with the lamp bodies (as see in the photos). The shades measure 13" tall and at the bottom at the widest is 16". Across the top they measure 14" at the widest. The shades are in mint condition with no problems what-so-ever. The lamp with the seating woman measures, 31 ¼" tall, the base of wood is the widest at 6 7/8" square as is the other lamp with woman catching water. The vase itself is 12" tall and about 4 ¾" at the widest and is around 3 ¾" deep. It also measures from the base to the top edge of the shade is 15". The lamp body with the woman catching water in her amphora is 15 ¼" from base to top of lamp shade. The same measurements for the wooden base are the same. As mentioned, this lamp is ¼" taller than the other lamp. You may be able to adjust for the difference as t appears to be some adjustment screws that may or may not raise or lower the arm that holds the finales. The lamp shades are mint as is the two lamps. T are no chips or cracks or other damage. I even had the lamps rewired for safe. So all you have to do is decide w to plug them in at and put in a couple light bulbs and you got "LIGHT"! The only thing is t are some very minor paint chips off the metal decorative rod that come up from the lamp to the finale caused by the pull chain. T are some minor imperfections made in the production of these lamp bodies. They show as impurities--dark spots and one glaze run found on the back. No way do these take a way from the beauty and desirability of these rare Royal Dux lamps! The vase part of the lamps and possible the lamp base was made ca 1900, being in the Art Nouveau design. I cannot begin to accurately describe and give this unbelievable pair of antique lamps justice. Those that know Royal Dux know they are famous for making high quality items as well as they were very creative in their design as these superior lamps are an excellent example. If you collect Royal Dux and/or Art Nouveau designed works of art, these are a most have. It is also for those that love quality and rare antique decorative arts. These great lamps will go with any décor at home or office due to the soft color of the shades and the soft light background colors of the lamps along with that beautiful antique green gold accent color that was so popular back in the late 1800s.
