This Pratt 50 Automobile brass emblem measures 3" by 2 1/8" and is 1/16" in thickness. It is not flat but made with a slight arch of about 1/8". It appears to have been soldered on to the vehicle. The lettering around the edge of the emblem reads, "ELKHART CARRIAGE & HARNESS MANUFACTURING CO. - ELKHART, INDIANA." The raised brass lettering around the edge has black porcelain around it with some places chipped and missing. The center has white porcelain which is dull and has some pitting. The raised brass letters, "PRATT 50" in the middle have black porcelain in them. In faint small lettering in the center of the back is reads, "WHITEHEAD & HOAG - NEWARK N. J." the maker of the item. The Elkhart Carriage & Harness Mfg. Co. Elkhart, Ind. produced autos from 1911 - 1915. The name was changed to Pratt Motor Car Co. Elkhart, Ind. and they produced autos from 1916 - 1917. This was apparently a carriage manufacturer which went into auto production for a few years as did so many carriage companies.
