This is a very nice little cream jug or pitcher, nearly 6" tall, from base to the handle peak. It is in excellent condition with good darkest cobalt flowing blue, bluish/white ground, NO crazing, NO discoloring, NO cracks, chips, nor repairs. For accuracy sake, t are insignificant pinpoint glaze nicks on the rim, along with rubbing wear to the glaze on one corner of the spout (specifically, 3 teensy pinpoint nicks and 1/4" rubbing wear to the spout). This little milk or cream jug is otherwise near mint with only 2 manufacturing flaws to note: a dark kiln dust speck on the body close to the handle and ON the handle's underside-top, t is a ceramic effluent piece, same color as the body, underglaze and not at all noticeable. With the handle to the left, a glaze pop can be seen about w the ring finger would touch whilst pouring. T is no potter's mark. The pattern seems to me to be very similar, if not THE, "INDIAN", seen on p29, bottom of Petra Williams FLOW BLUE CHINA: An Aid to Identification, Bk I , considered EARLY VICTORIAN, c 1840 and possibly by F. & R. Pratt. I have had this wonderful little pitcher on display and in my own private collection for so long that I am not positive as to the pattern name or the potter. Please do email if you agree, or disagree and best of all, with a correction as the the REAL PATTERN NAME and MAKER. Many thanks! I love ebayers' emails!
Midway, on the body, emphasizing the 8 vertical panels, graceful moulded plumes arch over the flowing blue flowers. The base design is very flown, but appears to be a dragon tooth or Gothic arch pattern.
