Prayer at Valley Forge Framed Print of George Washington at Valley Forge - painted by Arnold Friberg This lovely framed print measures 22" tall x 28" wide overall. The image size measures 11" tall x 18" wide. It's double matted, using a rustic, leather-look mat. Originally painted in 1976 to honor our bi-centennial year, and recognized as a masterpiece of patriotic american art. This picture expresses a powerful affirmation of faith, patriotic duty, and the spiritual depths in the founding of our country. A great gift for the history buff, a new office, a favorite teacher, the school/church library, etc.While Washington is known for his honesty by the famed cherry tree story, a much lesser known story about him is one of my favorites. It seems, that during the battle of Germantown (Oct 1777) the opposing General's dog (reputed to be a fox terrier) wandered into Washington's camp. It is said that Washington called a cease-fire, and ordered the dog returned to it's owner (which was determined by the inscription on it's collar).
