Hi - For auction is a vintage crystal radio made by the A.W.Bowman & Co, Cambridge. Mass. It is much above the condition that would be expected of an item of this age. It measures 3-1/8" deep by 5-1/2" high by 10-7/8" wide. The most notable artifact is the slight chipping on the lower left corner of the wooden housing. The housing is of black painted wood, dovetailed at the corners, and with the exception of the chip, is in very good shape. Paint seems to be original. The faceplate is of some type of composite material, possibly bakelite or plastic, whatever might have been available at the time of manufacture. The radio will need a new "cat's whisker" and crystal to operate, although the housings for both are in very good shape. Also, t appears to be a battery holder on the inside, which shows some use but is not badly corroded. Everything else inside seems to be in very good condition. Two wires protrude from the rear, which I assume are for the antenna. I know judging an item's condition is very subjective, but when I purchased this at a flea market, I believed it to be a relatively new "kit" radio of some sort. Then I found the information at the end of the link, and I see it must have been made prior to 1929.
