Pre-Columbian Peruvian Cat-Faced Jug Pot Pottery
Pre-Columbian Peruvian Cat-Faced Jug Pot Pottery
Sold For:
is a pre-Columbian jug with a cat face on each side. I bought this from a long-time collector of all things tribal. She bought this from a shop in upper New York state in 1964. It's a beautiful piece but difficult to photograph. It's difficult to capture the details of each cat face. I guess this would considered an effigy jug. It measures about 5&3/4" high and 5" in diameter. Condition is very good, other than some small chips around the rim and some small stains. The collector wrote a four-digit number on the bottom, which corresponded with a 3X5 card which she kept for each piece. The cards showed her w and when each piece was purchased. Shipping is $10.00 within the USA. Insurance is extra.
