Offered is an early third series, vintage 1892-1895, pre-Griswold manufactured "ERIE" cast iron skillet, in the very desirable #10 size, and bearing part number 716A. It exhibits all the early "ERIE" desirable characteristics including lightweight thin straight walled construction, outset heat ring, triangular handle reinforcement pad, and reinforced upper bowl rim. Its inside cooking surface measures 10" diameter, upper bowl rim measures 11.75" diameter, overall length measures 16.75", and bowl measures a tad over 2" deep. The skillet sits rock solid on its unworn outset heat ring, when placed on a true surface, exhibiting absolutely no traces of wobble. Its inside cooking surface displays a very insignificant and minor center located upward bow...a characteristic so frequently encountered on all early "ERIE" skillets. This is a manufacturing trait and is not a result of any usage issues. This same inner cooking surface is very smooth to the touch, but bears the always encountered and inconsequential utensil and usage marks it received over the last 120 years of service. There are no cracks, chips, hairlines, or signs of any warpage on this pan.
