PRE-REPUBLIC PETERSON'S PIPES

CLAMSHELL STYLE CASED SET

RARE DUBLIN & LONDON SHAPES 406 & 53

This is a very nice cased set of Dublin & London Peterson's pipes from the 1940s. One is a shape 406 (Prince) and the other is a shape 53 (Lovat).

The Prince shaped piece is 6-inches long with a bowl that is equally 1 1/4 inches tall and wide. The rim is charred and a bit out of round and the stem has a chip out of it at the top (see one of the attached photos.) This pipe weighs in at 36.8 grams. Nomenclature on the pipe is as follows: On the left side of the shank is stamped, Peterson's (over) Dublin & London (over) Special. On the right side of the shank is stamped, Made in Ireland 406.

The Lovat shaped piece is 5 inches long. The bowl is 1 3/4 inches tall and 1 1/4 inches across the top of the bowl. The stem is in great condition with no bite marks or scratches and just minor pitting. The P logo is faint on the left side of the stem. The bowl top has char and is slightly out of round. Additionally, t is a small chip out of the wood near the top on the left side (see one of the attached photos.) It is 37.4 grams in weight. Nomenclature is likewise sharp. On the left side of the shank is stamped, Peterson's (over) Dublin & London (over) Special. On the right side of the shank is stamped, Made in Ireland 53.

The case itself is in good condition, latches perfectly and bears a sticker logo that says, Peterson's Dublin & London.
