Up for auction is the Cirrus Rudder Pedals in good shape with less than 1 hours of use as seen in pictures fully tested and ready for useWhat Are They?The Cirrus Rudder Pedals are made of a combination of aluminum and steel with a rugged powder coated finish. Custom tempered springs for centering and brake action return. Steel was used where needed the most (in the tiller cross bar and pedal mount.) Self-lubricating bushings were used in both pedal mounts so there is no need for lubrication. The bottom of the pedals comes with Velcro so you can attach it to a rug and not have it move around. The pedals weigh in at a hefty 18 lbs and are solid as a rock. There are many versions of the pedals: 1. Cirrus USB with GA Pedals with Proportional Braking (The one being reviewed now) 2. Cirrus USB with Jet Rudder Pedals Proportional Braking 3. Cirrus SE (Special Edition) for use with all of their flight consoles and throttle quadrant console, these are special because they all hook together and connect to a (one) serial port or serial/USB. In this combination they are used with a custom dll (PFC.DLL created by Peter Dowson). They are far enough out of the way so that if you are not flying you can still put your feet on the floor. Yet they are close enough as I don't have to bend over and move them into place.Here is a scan of Instructions on how to use the rudder pedals. As you can see with the pictures it explains there usage clearly.Software SetupThere is no software needed to set up the pedals so none was included.Set UpAs I stated earlier it comes with Velcro so you can attach to a rug. This is where I had a problem. My computer sits on a tile floor so I had nowhere to attach the pedals. On top of that I have a chair with wheels so any attempt to use them would have me moving around the floor. So I got me a little throw rug with a rubber bottom and attached the pedals to them. Took the wheels off my chair and I was finally set. That was a little too much to get something to work so if you fall into that category take note. But now that the crisis was solved all was well.It comes USB - Plug 'n Play ready and that was it.....no really that was it. So the lack more instructions I spoke of earlier was not a factor at all. I plugged it in and fired up FS2002 and I had a rudder. I was like "This is too easy." I fired up Strike Fighters, went to controls section, went to the rudder pedals and tapped them once. I had a rudder in Strike Fighters. Ok what else can I check (with a huge evil grin forming) I loaded up IL2 Forgotten Battles and there was rudder also. I loaded up JF-18. Rudder there too. I loaded up CFS3 and again great results. So by far this is the easiest piece of hardware I have ever used for a computer. I however didn't get the toe brakes to work on any of my sims. I think that is because those are features the sim didn't report. Once a sim supports them though you will be all set to go. Having rudder pedals had made a world of difference in my simming. My landings are better as I can make tiny corrections to lineup more correctly. My turns are more precise. But most of all in a dogfight I can walk those rounds that much closer into a plane or line up that dive bomb run to be much more accurate. I recommend getting some; it will make your simming experience that much better.How Does She Hold Up?As stated earlier the pedals are made of some really tough material. They look like they would stand up to good amount of punishment. Well punish them is what I did. I found myself pushing them in which I had one pedal or the other being pressed as far as they could go. And they were being pressed hard. I took the stress test one step farther. I am 6'2" and weigh 200 lbs. I stood on the base and put my full weight on them and they stood up to the test. Pushing the pedals themselves required some amount of leg power. They are fairly stiff yet they do not have any play in them. However, they are not so stiff that they cause leg cramps.They spring back when not being pressed in, but they do not snap back. Mind you though not having them anchored to a good surface will cause them to slip and this is due to how stiff they are.
