SET OF TWO STERLING SILVER JULEP CUPS Can't get to the Kentucky Derby ? BRING THE DERBY TO YOU! Watch the 2007 running of the Kentucky Derby on May 5 th while you and your guest enjoy real Kentucky mint juleps in frosty sterling silver cups! Scroll down for Dad's Kentucky Mint Julep Recipe. Remember to make the syrup the day before! THESE ARE THE LAST TWO CUPS FROM THE COLLECTION! You are bidding on a lovely--and very heavy-- set of two identical Preisner Sterling Silver Mint Julep Cups , produced by the Preisner Silver Company of Wallingford , CT. Julep Cups are also known as Beakers. Each of these two Julep Cups measures 3 and 3/16 inches across the top lip, 3.75 inches high, and 2.75 inches across the bottom. These cups are each designed to hold ten ounces of beverage, or eleven ounces to the top of the rim. These juleps are more substantial than most. Cup #1 total weight is 142.3 grams, or 5.0 US ounces, or 4.6 Troy ounces. Cup #2 total weight is 134.2 grams, or 4.7 US ounces, or 4.3 Troy ounces. Touchmark on the bottom of each reads, "Preisner STERLING 140." The Preisner Silver Company was in business between 1935 and 1985. The cups were sold to my father by Stanley Caulkins of Caulkins Jewelers, in Leesburg , Virginia prior to 1979. My father purchased one of these from his close friend (Mr. Caulkins) every year--beginning in the year 1971--to give to my mother on their wedding anniversary. Each was lovingly maintained, enjoyed very gently, and always hand-polished only with Wright's Silver Cream. I must sell the cups, since they are part of my deceased father's estate and his assets must be divided. This auction is for a set of two (2) sterling silver julep cups. This is the last pair to be auctioned. I originally planned on keeping these last two cups, but finally decided to let them go. After this pair is gone--that's it! Sterling silver is extremely difficult to photograph, and I am far from a skilled photographer. In taking these photos, I tried very hard to capture the cups' true condition. These cups are in wonderful shape. The different colors visible in the photographs come from objects around the cups, and are not present on the cups themselves. The letter 'M' is lightly engraved on one side of both cups--see photos and click your mouse to enlarge. The monograms are light enough that you can have them professionally removed if you choose. If you have any questions, or would like additional pictures, please contact me. I am happy to provide all the information you need to make a good bidding decision. If they're not what I say they are, I will refund your purchase price. Whoever wins these cups will be extremely pleased! I will ship these cups worldwide. I accept PayPal, Bank Check or USPS money order. I regret that I cannot accept personal checks. PayPal payments must have a verified PayPal address attached to them, meaning the address linked to your PayPal account must be the same as your ship-to address (this prevents unauthorized charges). Items are usually shipped within two business days of verifying funds. Insurance is required. I primarily ship items using Priority or Express Mail via United States Postal Service with FREE delivery confirmation for tracking. Check status at . International bidders--please do not ask me to falsify customs forms--cups will be declared with the actual price, and not as gifts. Thank you for visiting my auction, and have a beautiful day!
