William McKinley Jr. [born January 29, 1843 - died September 14, 1901] was the twenty fifth President of the United States. He was elected to office on March 4, 1897, and was the last veteran of the Civil War to be elected to the office of President. He also served as the 39th Governor of the state of Ohio, and also served in the U.S House of Representatives for two terms. On September 5, 1901, President McKinley and his wife attended the Pan-American Exposition in Buffalo, New York. On the afternoon of September 6, 1901, McKinley was at the Temple of Music greeting the public. Standing in line with a pistol in his hand, was a man named Frank Czolgosz. At 4:07 pm, Czolgosz fired two shots at the president, striking the President one time in his stomach. President Mckinley survived for eight days, until finally subsuming to his injuries on September 14, 1901. Frank Czolgosz was later found guilty of murder, and was executed by electric chair on October 19, 1901. Listed for auction is a framed display containing the signature of President William McKinley. The signature is signed ''W Mckinley'' in black fountain pen on a 4.25 x 2.25 inch page. Mounted above the signature is a vintage bronze portrait medallion, commemorating President William McKinley. Mounted at the left is a attractive vintage portrait engraving of the president. The display measures 14 x 16 inches, and i can comfortably estimate the display was assembled 40 or 50 years ago. The matting and frame are vintage and aged, but very attractive. The autograph is authentic, it was obtained from uacc registered dealer EAC gallery, they and a premier auction house established in 1970.
