"The SOS~Pascalls Patents" That is what it says on the built-in sugar tongs on this handy little dish. And they, the patented sprung tongs, are marked SPNS meaning silver-plated nickel silver. The top, however, has hallmarks on the rim and may be silver--I am not an expert in these matters so I do not know. Please see the excellent picture of the marks. (a little bragging there...I am happy with my new camera!) The glass body of the piece is pressed glass. I would suspect that this is an English novelty and probably from the 1920's tea table. Thanks for considering this unique addition to your tea service.
