I can identify with Jacob Stricker---t have ben lots of times w I am NOT satisfied with my art work! This picture is freely adapted from the original Mr. Stricker dated 1792-1793, and is thought to be a depiction of St. George, the hero who slayed the dragon. In fact, t is a companion picture of a dragon that Mr. Stricker didn't finish. He didn't like nthe work he had done on the hero---and wrote on the back that he "hadn't done it right." I disagree---I think Mr. Hero is charming and alot of fun! Mr. Stricker did the original in Shenandoah Valley, Virginia (now Page County). The picture is painted on acid free watercolor paper that has been antiqued with faux foxing. The drawing has been done by me, with a reproduction dip pen and ink, and painted in watercolors and ink in the limited color palette of the time. I have signed it with my cypher, and have signed it on the back dust cover. The heavy, battered (but still very sturdy!) frame is grain painted black over a taupey grey. It measures aprox. 15 1/2 inches by 18 1/2 inches. The image (under glass) measures 13 1/2 inches by 10 1/2 inches. Like all my other paintings, these are one of a kind originals, not prints. I ship quickly (see my feadback)---usually the next day, unless the next day is a Sunday. Please read my revised payment info before bidding. Thanks for looking!
