I haven't seen too many pictures of Sussel-Washington frakturs, but I like his style--bold and confident and very imaginative! This picture is freely adapted from a very familar original, painted circa 1780 (during the Revolution!), in Lancaster or Lebanon County. I figure the fanciful spelling has something to do with the phonetic spelling, translating from English to the familar German. The picture is painted on acid free watercolor paper that has been antiqued with faux foxing. The drawing has been done by me, with a reproduction dip pen and ink, and painted in watercolors and ink in the limited color palette of the time. I have signed it with my cypher, and have signed it on the back dust cover. The heavy, battered (but still very sturdy!) frame is grain painted black over a taupey grey. It measures aprox. 15 1/2 inches by 19 inches. The image (under glass) measures 13 1/2 inches by 10 1/2 inches. Like all my other paintings, these are one of a kind originals, not prints. I ship quickly (see my feadback)---usually the next day, unless the next day is a Sunday. Please read my revised payment info before bidding. Thanks for looking!
