AUTHENTIC AUSTRALIAN ABORIGINAL-MADE DRONE PIPE OR DIDJERIDU ARNHEM LAND, c1970's The photographs presented do not honor the integrity of the instrument being offered. Let me know if you need better photographs for your perusal. This primitive instrument was purchased from an Australian resident who is a highly educated renowned expert and professor in the field of anthropology and archeology. He is the go-to person for information about the outback Australia that many of us dream about, as he spends much of his time in the field with his aboriginal friends. Most of the words used in this description are his... This is, "a good example of a tribal Aboriginal drone pipe or trumpet, otherwise known as a didjeridu (or didgeridoo). Unlike many tourist-oriented and non-authentic instruments, this example is made by an Aboriginal craftsman in the traditional manner...fashioned from a termite-hollowed eucalyptus tree trunk. The body of the instrument is decorated in ochre, consisting of cross-hatching in white pipe clay and bands of alternating pigment. The mouthpiece is fitted with a dark brown beesway from the native Austrialin bee belonging to the Trigona genus. The mouthpiece opening is 2.5 cm (1 inch) in diameter. The length of the instrument is 139 cm (4 feet 7 inches). T are no cracks or splits and the ochre work is in stable condition. The didjeridu is an Australian Aboriginal musical rhythmic instrument used in ceremonial rituals, such as accompaniment to singing and clap stick beats. It is traditionally found among the remote northern coastal tribes of the Northern Territory of Australia, especially in Arnhem Land, w the rhythmic compositions for the instrument find their greatest complexity and technical genius." Truly a work of art with a rich, magnificent sound. It has been used in celebrations in North America...as a very special addition/contribution to mixed gatherings of indigenous people. Shipping will be calculated by state or country and will include professional packing...I stated below/above that the shipping would be $40.0o in the US...but it may be less. Will only charge actual postage! So it may be less and I will let you know. The package will be an irregular size and should be insured or secured with the best courier, pricing and insurance. California State tax will be added when applicable. Please contact me with your questions.
