NO RESERVE on this AMAZING, ONE-OF-A-KIND , ANTIQUE FOLK ART, BLACK AMERICANA!!! Made by hand, possibly to be used as a humidor for storing tobacco. The person who made it was amazingly creative and resourceful! This folk art piece is made of brass and has a really nice worn patina. The focal point is a wonderful piece of BLACK AMERICANA, the head of an African-American man. We've been told this head was used as part of a cigar or cigarette lighter found in mens' smoking rooms back in the day. T is a cigar or cigarette in the man's mouth, and the head is mounted on a wreath of tobacco leaves, this then is on top of the lid of the piece. The base is the storage compartment, probably intended to store tobacco, and was actually the base of an oil-burning lamp. The lid, which opens, has a hinge attached to the base, a round button-like piece and what can be read says "Made in" and "s of America" with leaves and is part of the oil lamp base. Also used are two handles on each side of the base and musket balls are attached to the handles! You can see in the one picture the name Juno Lamp Company on the part below the lid. Like we said, the person who made this was creative and resourceful! Which is why this is one ORIGINAL PIECE OF FOLK ART AND BLACK AMERICANA, THE ONLY ONE LIKE IT IN THE WORLD! It measures 7" high and 8 1/2" across. This great folk art piece has been in our collection for about 20 years, and we bought it from another collector who had it in his collection for a number of years.
