Celeste is truly a celestial being. She was made to represent the hope of peace in the Christmas season. Celeste is 26 " tall from the tips of her glittered slippers to the star on her crown. Her nose is pinch stitched and her mouth is embroidered. Her eyes are done in artist pencils and sealed, while her eyebrows feature small french knots. Celeste's tiara syle halo is made of rusty wire and embellished with vintage seed beads from an estate sale. I love these beads. The modern ones just don't give the same effect. The star was painted and glittered by me and has an old glass bead on top. All of Celeste's hand done glitter is sealed to prevent "glitter shedding". Celeste's bodice is painted with a metallic paint that looks like tarnished silver. It is accented with silver trim that I antiqued to look old. She has button jointed arms which are wired and I used silvery vintage buttons. Celeste's skirt is quality muslin which I lightly stained and hand stamped a design on the hem using the same paint as her bodice. She has what I call "little side poofs" on her skirt of silver netting. Celeste's wings have been hand quilted and stained. I have lightly written "Glory to God in the Highest" on one wing and "Peace on Earth, Goodwill to Men " on the other. I then embellished them with a little silver paint and a sugaring of silver glitter.
