I have for auction a primitive hand held corn sheller. The sheller is made from one piece of wood which was turned on a lath to form the handle and then the head was shaped, drilled and sawed into. Each half has four rows of which appear to be square nails for the shelling teeth. The handle is hinged with a piece of leather and it has a thin rod for a guide. The quality indicates it was factory made, but I don't know. I feel like it predates the small cast iron sheller, but I am not sure. It does a good job of shelling the ear of corn. This came from an estate sale w the man collected only early primitives from the eastern states. If anyone has any imput on this sheller I would appreciate hearing from you. Thank you.
