Primitive IRONSTONE Pottery Handmade Stoneware Steamer
Primitive IRONSTONE Pottery Handmade Stoneware Steamer
Sold For:
You are looking at a primitive, MINT condition, Ironstone Pottery Gourmet Steamer....This attractive handmade steamer also doubles as a serving piece, since it can go directly from saucepan to the table.....The steamer itself has a drip look to it....
Cleaning is also easy since the steamer is detergent and dishwasher safe....I also have the original paperwork and small recipe book as well....(appetizers such as HOPPIN' HOT DOGS, Main Dishes such as NO CALORIE CHICKEN, and side dishes such as THE ROLY POLLY)..... Named ironstone as a marketing device, ironstone pottery was said to be as strong as iron. It was called many other names including white granite to call attention to the strength of the pottery. Ironstone pottery could also have raised designs, such as the ridges visible on the rim of this plate. Ironstone was very popular in the second half of the nineteenth century, because it was so durable, it was used on middle-class tables, as well as at places such as hotels..... I have NO idea as to the age of this piece, but it is breathtaking....and in tip-top shape.... Measures: approx 8" in diameter and 9" tall (including lid)... Shipping does not include insurance, but I highly recommend it... Winning bidder please pay within 3-5 days of auctions end... DO NOT hesitate to contact me with any questions you might have... Thanks so much for looking and have a "steak and fresh steamed veggies" kind of day!!! ;) View Similar Items
