You are bidding on a Primitive kitchen tool known in Sweden as a Brodnagg i Karvsnitt. This was used to make holes or prick marks on bread and crackers when baking. From what I understand , from what I could research, these were Tramp Art pieces made by men who were unemployed . They made these by hand and went from farm to farm selling these as a way to support themselves and prove they were working. Apparently it was a crime in those days to be out of work. It is metal and has heavy wire wound around the center in a spider web fashion and around the center stem. There are no breaks in the metal. This was purchased from an estate in Minnesota when many Swedish immigrants settled in the 1800's when they came to the US.I am not an expert in this area, but am describing as completely as possible. It looks like it is made of copper or brass. Questions always welcome, please ask before you bid.
