Hello and welcome...this is for the ones that don't know what Primitives are exactly. Sit back and relax and take a walk back to a time when the American settlers and Native American, cloth dolls were one of the most popular toys to make, mothers, grandmothers, and aunts would gather all leftover scraps of sugar and flour sacks and transform them into beautiful dolls for their daughters. I have been enjoying myself by trying to recreate these NOT so perfect dolls and such and giving them that old time worn touch. Even with their imperfections this is what makes them each and everyone unique. Some are cute, some are just downright UGLY ;-) and some are absolutely beautiful. I have created this wonderful round head Annie using a tea-stained muslin. She is over 20" tall. I have wool felted her tomato red hair and tied some ribbons giving her some pigtails. Her face was handstitched and her stockings were handpainted and sanded. I use only the best quality fabrics for all of my dolls and I especially love this red, blue and gold flower print. I have added some vintage cream rickrack to the hem and sleeves of her dress. She has on a tea-stained pair of blue ticking bloomers that match her hairbows.
